To Leave and Not Look Back...

It seems the thing to do; getting out while the getting is good. So how does one "check out," as it were? Is it like the Hotel California where you can check out anytime you like, but never leave? Or is like being IN the world but not OF it? Lot seemed to not have a problem making that decision when it was pressed upon him.

But why leave at all? The plains are well-watered, everything's green and rich and lush... it's the next best thing to Eden. So why leave? Because of Sodom's character. From a distance, on that high far hill, everything looks wonderful. Is that Sodom's character? Or is it instead what lies in the midst of the plain, the city itself? All those like-minded neighbors, living in one accord?

And yet angels came to take the only righteous living in Sodom out. What does that say about Sodom? That it can look so beautiful from a distance yet be so black and cankerous within? That only ONE righteous man was found?

Well, Like Lot I've decided to leave... before the rains come. I don't like what I see and I'd just as soon not be caught with anything important in that dark black hole when the rains do come. Is that the resolve of a pragmatist? Or is it faith in the messengers sent to bring me out? A little of both perhaps?

So again, why leave? Because this home away from Home has ceased to be a place any healthy Christian should feel comfortable living in.
